As States List Challenges
The Presidency has concluded plans to reorganise its N-Power programme for unemployed graduates by expunging names of those captured, but could not be verified.
This is coming on the heels of complaints by beneficiaries in some states over non-payment of their stipend. For instance, since the programme took off in Ogun State, some of the candidates have been complaining over non-payment and partial payment of their monthly stipends.
The aggrieved recipients, who demonstrated last week in Abeokuta, told The Guardian that they had not received their December and January stipend.
The Guardian investigation revealed that the affected candidates were not paid, because they failed to submit themselves for verification of their accounts, while some of them were also not paid for irregularities discovered in the documents they submitted.
In Cross River State, the beneficiaries have not been paid for January and March this year, although they have all been deployed to work in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the state.
