Mission:Impossible 6 finally gets a release date – but you’ll have to wait until 2018 to see it

WE’VE known for a while that Mission: Impossible 6 is on the way.

As Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation hit cinemas last year, Tom Cruise promised a “compelling” sixth instalment and we’ve been excited ever since.
Now, one year on, we’ve finally been given a release date.

While Cruise officially closed his deal for the film in September, it won't arrive until July 27, 2018.
A small team had begun early prep on the film, including visual effects tests, but there was a delay due to a reported pay dispute between the actor and Paramount.
As it was resolved and his contract drawn up, production has finally been given the go-ahead.

The A-list actor, who plays Ethan Hunt in the films, will be both starring in and co-producing the next film, while bets are on that Rebecca Ferguson will also return.
It sounds like there are big plans for it too, as Katie Holmes' ex-husband promised in April at Cinemacon that there would be plenty of action and assured fans it would include "more incredible set pieces, stunts..and what I think is a very entertaining and compelling story."
Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation raked in $700million
Paramount Pictures
The Mission: Impossible films have grossed a combined $2.8 billion at the worldwide box office, while last year's hit managed to rake in just under $700million.
