Almost all our activities involve our feet and undoubtedly it should be taken care of as it may become prone to bacterial or fungal infection. 1. Clean Your Feet Regularly
During the monsoon, it is obvious that your feet will get dirty in the rain. Therefore, it is important to clean your feet regularly once you step into your house.How To Clean Your Feet?
Process-
- Take some lukewarm water in a bucket.
- Add a spoonful of salt and any antiseptic liquid like Savlon or Dettol.
- Soak your feet for some time till water becomes cool.
- Wash your feet with normal water and pat dry.
- This method will clean your feet properly and also prevent any form of fungal infection.
- Also, it will relieve you of all your tiredness and will relax you completely.
2. Scrubbing The Feet
This is really something important in monsoon and you should scrub your feet twice in a week for healthy and germ free feet.Process-
- After cleansing your feet in lukewarm water, take a pumice stone and start scrubbing the feet gently in circular motion.
- Continue this process for 10-15 minutes and then wash it with cold water.
- This helps to remove the dead cells from the feet. Also, it improves blood circulation for your feet.
3. Apply Foot Mask
Foot mask helps to seal the open pores and also lightens and brightens the skin. Your feet appear clean and shiny. We can easily prepare a foot mask at home itself and apply the same on the feet.How To Prepare Foot Mask?

- Take 4-5 tablespoon of gram flour.
- Add a teaspoon of turmeric to it and add raw milk to the mix to make a smooth paste.
- Now add few drops of honey and lime juice to this paste.
- Mix well and apply a thick coating of this mask on your feet.
- Leave it till it dries completely.
- Gently scrub the feet in circular motion and wipe off the mask.
- Rinse your feet thoroughly with cold water and pat dry.
4. Ensure To Keep Your Feet Dry
It is obvious that your feet will get wet frequently in monsoon. Also, the humid conditions make your feet more vulnerable to infection and hence should be kept dry as far as possible.Process:
- Once you clean your feet, pat dry your feet and spray some talcum powder on your feet.
- Rest for some time, within few minutes the moisture sitting on your feet will disappear.
- You can follow this method mostly on humid days.
Therefore, before starting for your workplace, spray some powdered camphor tablets and talcum powder on your feet and then wear your footwear. This will help to absorb the bad smell from the feet. Camphor powder also soothes your feet all day.
5. Moisturise
It is very important to moisturize your feet regularly in monsoon.To keep our feet clean, we use several methods, warm water, packs and masks etc. All these may render your feet dry because it has to be done on a continuous basis to keep your feet clean.
Process-
- Take few drops of olive oil and massage gently on your feet for few minutes till the oil is soaked completely.
- You can do this twice in a day, once before taking bath and before going to bed.
- This will not only moisturize your feet naturally but deeply nourish your skin from within.
Alternatively,
- You can warm a tablespoon of mustard oil in a container and apply it on your feet.
- Massage gently for few minutes and wipe off with a clean cloth.
- Mustard oil prevents any form of fungal infection in the feet.
- It also prevents cold and coughs which you are likely to catch during the monsoons.
6. Nail Care
Nail is an integral part of our feet and along with foot care you need to take care of the nails as well. Neglecting the nails mostly result in dirt deposition in the cuticles and inside the nails. Continuous deposition may result in acute pain and in worst cases it might be required to pull out the nails.Improper hygiene and carelessness may result in black and dead nails which looks very ugly.
How To Take Care Of Nails?
- First and foremost, cut your nails short. This will avoid dirt sticking or sitting inside your nails.
- Remove the nail paint from your nails using a nail polish remover. Do remember that nail polish removers make your nails extremely dry. Therefore, do not frequently use the same.
- Lift the cuticles and clean them properly. If you see dirt deposited in the cuticles, then pulling them out can cause acute pain. Try the below method:-
- Warm coconut oil in a container.
- Soak a cotton ball in this hot oil and squeeze the cotton ball for the oil to drip inside the cuticles.
- Leave it for few minutes.
- It will automatically pull out the dirt to the surface of the nails.
- You can further remove the same using a nail cleaner.
- Apply oil on the nails and cuticles, give them a light massage and leave it as it for the whole night.
- Next morning, after taking bath apply your nail paint.
7. Select The Right Footwear
It is very important to select the right footwear in monsoon. We all love to experiment with different shoes; however monsoon is certainly not the ideal season for experimenting with footwear.- Shun all your leather shoes as rainy water destroys the texture of leather. Also, it is difficult to dry leather shoes in monsoon and continuous exposure to humid conditions makes your shoe and feet smell really bad. Therefore, leather foot wears are a big NO in monsoon.
- Do not opt for canvas shoes. They absorb water rapidly and feel damp all the time.
- Opt for slippers, floaters and gum boots if required. Slippers and floaters have the tendency to repel water, therefore you will not find any water sticking on the foot wear and hence your feet remains dry all the time.
- Do not wear closed shoes as in humid condition, your foot is likely to sweat more and this is one of the ideal conditions for bacterial and fungal infections to spread.
8. Pedicure
It is better to perform pedicure in your home itself rather than spending your hard earned money in parlours. Moreover, doing pedicure at home has an advantage as you use your own stuff which is sterilized completely.''Pedicure is a simple process and involves four basic steps which are cleansing, scrubbing, foot mask and moisturising.
