The property has been uninhabited for about 10 years and needs £30,000 worth of improvements
The windows were boarded up around three years ago. Robinsons estate agents have said that it has a lot of potential
After being unoccupied for around 10 years, it needs around £30,000 to improve the condition.
Images of the property show a run-down kitchen, dated wallpaper, dirty carpets and discarded furniture.
However, despite its flaws, the property has maintained several of its original features and boasts spacious rooms.
Other houses nearby range from £70,000 to £100,000.
Michael Hughes, manager for estate agents Robinsons which is auctioning off the property, said the property belonged to someone who died several years ago.
One bedroom in the property still has several pieces of furniture inside and dated curtains
A two piece sofa set has also been left in the property and the wallpaper is peeling
This bedroom is a spacious size
and Michael Hughes, manager for estate agents Robinsons which is
auctioning off the property , said the property could be really
beautiful
He said: 'It is on a
nice terrace in a popular village which isn't far from Durham city
centre, Chester-le-Street town centre and is near the A1.'
'The house could be really beautiful.'
After being boarded up three years ago, locals describe the property as the 'boarded up house'.
It is thought that it will be sold for between £30,000 to £40,000.
Despite the shower, bathroom and sink still being in a good condition, they are extremely dated
Prior to being boarded up, the house had excellent views, according to Mr Hughes.
Mr
Hughes added: 'The market is very buoyant in the North East at the
moment but we decided to put the house up for auction for £1 as it was
hard to put a specific price on it.
'This is the fairest way to get the best possible price and also allow anyone the opportunity to purchase it.'
The auction will take place on April 4.
