Sometimes, the journey itself can be just as glamourous as the destination.
Destination: Southern Africa
Travel By: Private Jet
The Journey:
Luxury safari outfitter andBeyond recently announced the launch of its
new private jet expeditions around Africa, which will begin in 2017.
This particular 15-day trip travels South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana,
and Namibia all by private jet with a maximum of just six guests.
Trip Highlights: Stay
at five andBeyond properties on this journey where you'll go diving in a
shark cage, see Namibia's Sossusvlei desert from a hot air balloon, and
explore the Sabi Sabi Sands Game Reserve.
Destination: The Hamptons
The Journey: Skip the traffic to the Hamptons: StndAir's seaplanes get you there in 45 minutes. Book a flight to Shelter Island, Montauk, or East Hampton taking off directly from the East River seaport at 23rd Street in New York City. Charters are also available within a 300-mile radius of the East Coast.
Trip Highlights: Part of The Standard Hotels—the beloved hotel company from André Balazs—you can trust that this summer seaplane program will deliver. The flight is quick, but, most importantly, it's known for its in-flight rosé and Swedish Fish service!
Destination: Bimini, the Bahamas
The Journey: The Miami-docked 65V Princess yacht is available for everything from a three-hour sunset cruise to a two-day adventure to Bimini.
Trip Highlights: Branded as "strictly a boat for hedonists," this yacht comes equipped with a chef, jet ski, bottle of champagne, and three guest rooms that will sleep you and 11 of your closest friends.
Rates start at $7,000.
Destination: The World
The Journey: The Four Seasons Private Jet Experience will take you around the world in this incredible 25-day trip. Destinations on the itinerary include Costa Rica; Sydney, Australia; the Serengeti, Tanzania; Marrakech Morocco; and Lisbon, Portugal.
Trip Highlights: If you and a friend have $137,000 to spare (each!), you can travel routes not easily available on commercial airlines, while staying in some of the best Four Seasons properties all over the world.
Starts at $137,000 per person for double occupancy. A supplement of $11,000 is charged for single occupancy.
Destination: The Arctic
The Journey: The Cape Race, a deep-sea fishing trawler-turned-expedition yacht, is the ideal way to get to the most remote areas of the Arctic (the hull is reinforced against ice and it can travel 7,000 miles without refueling). You can book the boat to be repositioned for trips anywhere in the world, but its particular anatomy suits the Arctic. The boat sleeps up to 16 guests.
Trip Highlights: This boat is built for those looking for a serious expedition—it's fully equipped for science and research trips, but is just as good for a leisure adventure to the most famous glaciers such as Jakobshavn, Kangilerngata Sermia, and Torssukataq.
Rates start at $9,338.
Destination: Winterlake Lodge, Alaska
The Journey: Located on the Iditarod Trail, this lodge is most easily accessible by bush plane (a plane that lands on skis in the winter and floats in the summer). The flight is one-hour from the state capital of Anchorage.
Trip Highlights: The scenic arrival is just the beginning of this Alaskan journey. Run by a husband and wife team, the lodge offers the best of the outdoors (hiking, fishing, dog mushing—you name it), and incredible fine dining (owner Kristen Dixon studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris).
Rates starts at $4,840.
Destination: Îles d'Hyères, France
